Age Limit
The age limit is strictly defined by the candidate’s date of birth and varies for each academy.
Note: The upper age limit for AFA is relaxable up to 26 years for candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL).

The UPSC CDS I 2026 Recruitment includes a total of 451 vacancies distributed across five distinct courses. Applicants must choose their preferred academy/courses while filling the Common Application Form (CAF).
UPSC CDS Recruitment Qualification
Applicants must meet all criteria related to nationality, age, and educational qualifications as on the respective dates of course commencement.
- For IMA & OTA : Bachelor Degree in Any Stream.
- For Naval Academy : Bachelor Degree in Engineering .
- For Airforce : Bachelor Degree in Any Stream with Physics & Math in 10+2 Level
UPSC CDS Salary
Candidates undergo training at the respective academies before being commissioned as officers. During the entire duration of the training period (e.g., one year for IMA), Gentlemen/Lady Cadets are given a fixed monthly stipend.
- Training Period (Gentlemen/Lady Cadets) Fixed stipend of ₹56,100/- per month
- On Commissioning (Sub-Lieutenant/Lieutenant/Flight Officer) Pay starts at Level 10 of the Defence Pay Matrix, i.e., ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500, plus Military Service Pay (MSP) and other allowances.
