SSC Stenographer Selection Process
The SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026 Process consists of four stages, depending on the nature of the post:
- Computer Based Exam (CBE): Only candidates scoring the minimum qualifying marks fixed by SSC will be called for the Stenography Skill Test.
- Skill Test Qualification: SSC will set category-wise qualifying standards for the Skill Test.
- Final Selection Basis: Final selection will be based on merit in the Computer Based Exam + Skill Test + APAR evaluation.
- Merit List & Allotment: SSC will prepare separate merit lists for each participating Service/Cadre and recommend candidates as per vacancies.
- Relaxation for Reserved Categories: SC/ST/PwBD candidates may be recommended under relaxed standards against reserved vacancies, subject to fitness.
- No Double Benefit: SC/ST/PwBD candidates selected on general merit will not be adjusted against reserved vacancies.
- Vacancy-Based Selection: Selection to Grade “C” posts will be strictly as per available vacancies, reservation rules, and DoPT guidelines.
- Competitive Exam: This is a competitive exam, not qualifying. Selection numbers are decided by the Government.
- No Automatic Right to Selection: Qualifying or passing the exam does not guarantee selection.
- Final Approval by Cadre Authority: Final appointment depends on service record, conduct, and suitability as assessed by the cadre authority.
